    The Gospel of Judas

anybody hear about the gospel according to judas iscariot that they found?
they confirmed its from the same time period as the other gospels, they just don't know if its true
it says that judas didnt betray jesus to the romans and that not only was judas jesus' most loyal apostle, jesus TOLD judas to betray him, jesus, to the romans
i think this makes sense, because jesus, being jesus and all, knew that he needed to die for mankind's sins. who better to intrust that job to than his most devoted follower?
    what are everyone's thoughts?

    The Gospel of Judas

I predict another long pointless argument between different factions of people who spend too much time thinking about ancient mythology. If you ask me, we should all stop worrying about ancient texts by people who believed in talking snakes, witches, demons, virgin births, and the ridiculous concept of "sin" (things God wants you to never ever ever do, but he won't tell you, except in an ambiguous text that can be interpreted many ways and has to be translated from Ancient Hebrew).

    Howdy Oneironaut,

Boy Howdy ! I sure would love to see the look on yer face-when you die and are greeted by yer loved ones on the Other Side...lol.

Don't bother trying to convince me that I'm wrong,my Faith is un-shakeable and you'll just be wasting yer time.

Have a good one ! :stoned:

That's the problem with being an atheist. If we die and there's nothing there, I don't get to say "I told you so".

But please do bother to tell me I'm wrong. I don't hold onto any idea with absolute faith. I keep an open mind at all times and can be swayed by evidence, logic and reason. Provide me with enough good evidence for your case and I'll have no choice but to cave in.

    Howdy Oneironaut,

    Lol..I like yer opening statement.

Wow..could there be real hope for ya ? I'd like to think so ! I ain't gonna try and convince you to believe in Jesus and God,that step is up to you. I kinda look at it from a scientific point of view, what need is there in Nature, for emotion..if we apply the law of survival of the fittest ? Why would Nature evolve happiness ? Happiness, implies contentment with one's surroundings, which leads to complacency which leads to being un-aware of dangers at hand-would it not be counter to survival of the strongest and fittest ?

When my daughter was born and I held her for the first time-it felt like a miracle of life to me,I was no longer devoted to my own wants and needs-I was more than 'happy'..to put them aside and dedicate my life to nurturing my daughter. Itwas and felt like, much more than just a simple survival instinct to protect my 'young'. I have seen and felt much, that can only be explained as being outside of the normal realm,it was para-normal. If we can detect these para-normal events with magnetometers, thermal imagers and temperature probes..how can any scientist discount such ?

It's not much of a beginning to convince you that you indeed have an immortal soul, but it's a start. My back is about to reach it's limit,so I won't be on much longer,I look forward to yer responses though and will git back to ya soon.

    Have a good one ...

Happiness is a state of consciousness caused by chemicals in the brain which are activated when we have achieved our goals and desires, and which are not present when we sense danger or have unfulfilled goals and desires. Evolutionarily speaking, this is clearly a very beneficial trait to have, wouldn't you say?

Yeah, it feels really emotional and meaningful, doesn't it? She almost seems like the most important thing in the world, doesn't she? Well, good, you're supposed to feel that way. It's what keeps her alive, and your genes as well.

You've been watching too many of those kooky ghost hunting shows haven't you? Well, if you honestly think you can prove a paranormal event has occurred under proper observing conditions in which the possibility of cheating is eliminated, you can win yourself $1,000,000.

I don't think I have an immortal soul. It looks like just wishful thinking to me. Death is scary, and people want to think they will live forever, even if their body dies. That's what keeps belief in the afterlife alive. But there just isn't any empirical evidence to believe that there is anything after death. It seems our personalities and our memories are encoded in an organ called the brain. They are damaged when the brain is damaged. It also looks like they decompose when the brain decomposes.

I watched that the other night. They were trying to find the cave that the scripts come from....pretty interesting. Here's a lil' something on it.
