folgers carbon scrubber
If i were to take a folgers can, cut out the bottom, and then stuff it with layers of activated carbon and cut down furnace filters and set if over my exhaust fan (which is a computer fan on top of the box) would it work? I wouldn't think any odor would come out of my intake fan. At least in principle. Any comments would be helpful.

It will work... but, the bigger the surface area the air can have to pass through, the easier it'll be on the fan.

If you're temperatures permit you to run your setup fine, go for it! Try it out and let us know what happens...

A simple computer fan will not have enough power to move the air through the filter system. You may need to upgrade your fan.
