Maybe you can tell the guy the honest truth. Tell the interviewer exactly what you did and then get down to how this experience will help his business.

I've been working and making money... but nothing that I can pay taxes for or list on a resume/application (although the skill set required for this particular work would be a perfect fit in a business setting... enough said).
