Pakistani city tense after suicide blast kills 57
KARACHI, Pakistan -- Pakistani youths burned cars and tires and traders went on strike in Karachi on Wednesday to protest against the deaths of 57 Sunni Muslims in the country's worst suicide bombing in nearly two decades.
Paramilitary troops and police patrolled the empty streets of the southern port city following Tuesday's attack on an outdoor ceremony marking the birth anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed, witnesses said.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but there were fears that it could start a fresh cycle of sectarian violence between militants from Pakistan's majority Sunni and minority Shia communities.
The Sunni Tehreek religious party, which lost its chief and other key figures in the blast, said that it had received threats before the attack and gave the government a 48-hour ultimatum to catch the culprits.
Sources said that it was likely that the party would call a strike and a protest when the deadline expires.
"Our leaders have been receiving threats for the past couple of months and we had informed the government about it, but no security was provided to our leaders," interim leader Shahid Ghori told reporters. "We even doubt it was a suicide bombing, but whatever the fact is we demand the investigation must be conducted." He added that the inquiry should be carried out by the country's top spy agency, the ISI, and military intelligence.

Middle East really have their problems. It's not bad enough that they (Muslims) car bomb Christians, Jews, Hindu's, but they also have divisions between the Sunni and the Shia! Iran being the largest predominate Shia country in the area after Iraq....wonder if there was any "outside influence"?
This could actually be a REAL conspiracy!!:stoned:Psycho4Bud Reviewed by Psycho4Bud on . They are all insane. There's something that's just wrong with them - I don't know if it's the food, climate, their religions, genetics, customs, a mental-illness epidemic, a combination of these things, or what.
We should cut all ties with that entire part of the world, and the Muslim societies in other locations as well.
This is the only answer, and I've been thinking about it for a long time. Let the bastards have their way, cut em loose, and hopefully they'll either become less violent, or just kill themseves off.
Of course, keep those missiles pointed at them - just in case.

I wouldnt be suprised. Doesnt 57 sound like a large number for a suicide bombing? Im assuming thats just killed so Id double or even triple that number for the wounded. I agree we should cut off our ties and let them figure their shit out. This isnt going to happen and if it does it doesnt sound like ANYTIME soon at all.
Im waiting to see the outcome of the next terrorist attack on our homeland......
Dont get them started on another conspiracy man, you know in the end youll just regret it.
