Can you recommend any good films?

I joined up for this Tesco DVD rental scheme where I pay 13 quid a month and I can order as many DVDs as I want and keep them for as long as I want.

Now, obviously I want to take the piss and get my moneys worth but I'd rather get recommendations than take a chance ordering random DVDs cos lets face it, most films are shite or just neutral :-/

So if you guys can recommend any movies you've seen I'd appreciate it.

Here are some movies I currently have on order - if any of you have seen them can you tell me what you thought of them

    Thanks guys! :stoned:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    Chronicles of Narnia
    Man on Fire
    Sin City

Loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...BUT there's a lot of potential for a person to dislike it, the plot is pretty out there, and it's kind-of sappy.

So-So on Chronicles of Narnia...It's visually nice, and stuck to what I knew of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (which isn't much, I've yet to sit down and read the series), but I just didn't really feel anything for the charecters.

What are some films you've loved? (For a better idea of what to recomend)

    Thanks
I like Goodfellas, The Cell, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Sleepers, Lolita, American Beauty, all Disney films (to toke to)
    Hate sloppy cheesy chick-flicks

Waiting is a really really funny movie... kinda gross out (it takes place behind the scenes of a chain restaurant) but hysterical when baked.

i just saw Robin Hood Men in Tights again. i forgot how hilarious that was if your in the mood for a comedy.

The Jackal with Bruce Willis as a freelance assasin and richard geere as an ex IRA sharpshooter with a grudge. great action/suspense movie also starring sydney portier.

I'm not saying I've got a large (eh ) collection or anything, but I can recommend (if you can zoom in on the pic) every single film you can see excluding to the right of the "Army Information Pack" box .. They're just PC games

    some other possibles then:

since you like Pulp Fiction, some of Tarentino's other movies such as Kill Bill, Resevoir Dogs, or Jackie Brown

    Requiem for a Dream
    What Dreams May Come
    Fight Club
    Almost Famous
    Death to Smoochy
    A Clockwork Orange
    Big Fish

and since you like Disney to toke to, for a variety possibly try the Japanese equivilent: Studio Ghibli (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle)

Don't know if you'll love (or even like) everything on this list...but there should be at least one or two on here that work out.
