I would like to say...your friend could've left the roots in the v/p mix and put that into the rockwool medium you have there.

coat the bottom of netpot with the r'wool, place seedling/rooted clone in netpot and fill with your medium.
you might want to consider hydroton, instead(less ph problems) imho, lw

Hobo-Tastic has become a little less hobo and a little more tastic.

My friend has recieved a nice 400 HPS on loan and promptly converted it to remote ballast and hung it up.

Also, he has put in a temp gauge and humidity gauge.

He has been trying his best to control the ph with lemon juice and will be out to get some real ph down tommorow. after about 4 hours the ph goes from 6 to 8. What do you think he should strive for? 5.5? 6.5?

5.2 to 5.8 on the PH. They like that best. Make some white plastic covers for the netpots to keep the algea down. I see it starting in the big one. It can be a plastic bag just cut circles to go over them. Once you get a nat problem they can be hard to get rid of.

I know it looks like algae is growing but its not in real life. I hear ya on the netpot covers though. Whats a good material besides "plastic bags" cause he wants to make this a little less HOBO every day!

What recipe of General Hydroponics should he be using? Right now he is using 2 tspm micro, 2 tspn grow and 1 tspn bloom per gallon.

Any other suggestions, comments or recomendations?

The humidity is at 40-50% and the temps are at 86f.

buy panda plastic...black on one side white on the other.

It works great for all light-tite applications

Anything white and non flamable should do the trick. Get a fan on them to help the main cola. 3 grow 2 micro 1 bloom. I use a NICU bottle in ml. 10ml=1Tbsp but thats just me. Also the pet store sells CO2 tablets that work pretty good put a tiny bit of water in a tray with the tablet set on top of box and close the door.

I would advise using the 3-2-1 nute recipe; Only if you have plenty of room. Itried it, but no longer use 3-2-1, because it ate up all my extra space with useless lower foliage, and abnormal height. Actually, For those of you growing outside, I strongly recommend 3-2-1.

In side 1-1-1 is better, Imho, and for flower with height restriction's, i am becoming sold on the lucas formula, but I modified it, just a bit.

Instead of 0-5-10veg and 0-8-16flower, I add 1ml grow per gallon...so, 1-5-10veg and 1-8-15flower. This is just my crazy Chit'though. Goodluck lw

I think they are finaly taking off after being transplanted into the grow cubes

you always want to oxygenate your rez, regardless of what type system you have. the plant loves oxygen, needs it in abundance to thrive. So in answer to your question.
Yes, It is necessary for you to have an airstone, or 2, or 3-4 is good! in your rez. lw
