By attacking the major cities of Afghanistan, we did exactly what bin laden wants. He was in the hills laughing, while we're wasting the taliban regime.

A friend of mine, an older fellow, put forth the proposition in the days following 9/11/01, that we should have pattern-bombed the areas where al quada were hiding immediately, and then issued a denial - maybe even "condolences". THAT would have shaken them up. They thought, perhaps correctly, that they could "out-crazy" us.

This, combined with a boycott of all petroleum-related products from the Middle East, would have had a much greater effect on terrorism. I know, from experience, that nobody messes with crazy people.

The terrorists and their supporters also know that jihad is, according to Western thought, "impossible" to prevent. Well, there's a guy named Big Mike, who put it like this: You put out the word that if anybody wants to commit jihad, and go to Allah, then their ??whole fucking family is going with them??. See www.thekidfrombrooklyn.com videos ??Terrorists". ??Bat Day? is also very funny. The guy is not a political or foreign-policy genius, but he has the experience to come up with these survival solutions.

I??ve avoided many ugly situations by letting people know that their life would be over if they tried anything on me - and I meant it. It beats fighting or getting fucked up.
