The first time I ever rolled a joint me and my friends took a walk to smoke it, found our spot, sat down, and tried to light it. Key word being "try" because I rolled it so tight it wouldn't even light and you couldn't draw smoke from it. I got home and the fucking paper peeled off of it like a banana and there was just a solid tube of dense bud. So we just broke it up and packed it into a bowl and smoked it in my bathroom.
