Best way to stop for a few days?

Iā??ve smoked weed for almost 2 years straight (smoked before that but not regularly). During the first year it didnā??t seem that bad really. When I ran out I ran out and it was no big deal I just picked up another sack whenever. But really I have gone a while now with no interruptions and Iā??m almost out again. The last time I really ran out I was out for a week and it fucking sucked. When I go from smoking like 5+ bowls a day to nothing it really seems to fuck with my system. I feel like I drank too much coffee, or kind of that frustrated insomniac style feeling you get when you are a little kid on Christmas eve and canā??t go to sleep, except I feel like that all the time. My patience with anything basically goes to zero, and whereas Iā??d normally work at something for a while without caring, I get frustrated unbelievably fast at things.

There are a few reasons Iā??d love to just be able to stop for a few days here and there. Sometimes I have to go to family events and stuff like that where it is just not really practical to smoke. Sometimes Iā??ll come back from a party with my lungs feeling totally owned and it would be nice to just take a break, let my tolerance go back down and my lungs recover. Hell sometimes it would be nice just to be able to hold off and get a bigger sack and not have to spring for an eighth or something just because Iā??m out and itā??s all I can afford.

I talk with my friends and they all confirm that they experience similar issues when they stop smoking, but all of their solutions seem to either be to not stop, or stop for good for a long time. Is there any trick that can help my body adjust faster or something? Would drinking lots of water help or hurt? What about exercise, etc?

I almost feel kinda bad because the last family event I was at I acted like a dickhead and thatā??s just not my typical behavior.

Best way to stop for a few days?

I experience many of the same conditions when I stop smoking for more than 2 days. I have been smoking daily for the last year, save for 5 or 6 week long breaks that I just decided to take to make sure I still could.

Exercise is great for when you want to stop smoking. Not only does it tire you the fuck out, making it easier to go to sleep, it also kicks your tolerance back down real quick. I'm sorry to say but I dont have any miracle methods to make the change easier for you. As long as I am still able to quit for 3+ days whenever I want (just came off of a small 3 day break) then I am fine with smoking whenever I have bud.

Me too, i'm fed up with acting like a total dickhead when i got no smoke,
the one thing i do do , is get very busy!..lots of shit gets done.....
....the windows get washed as does the car, the house gets painted(again),
the dog gets a bath and my work ethos improves(i work for myself).
I'm sorry i can't help, but it's the body that is crying out for the chemicals
that you have decided to give yourself a rest from(or you ran out!). Thats
where your moodiness comes from, the body acting differently because your denying it one of the things it's got used to having....i gave up alcohol 5
years back, and i was in bits for a long time, because i'd(or my body had)
gotten so used to sinking beers everyday for a long time!
Just get busy when you got no smoke, it hurts, but i'll tell you what, when you do get smoke, the effect is great because your body has had time to get rid of the toxins and the hit will be twice the 'power'!
    Enjoy...

Usually what I try to do is just get active with something else.. like working out or haiging out with friends so you're not just sitting at home thinking about smoking.

Yeah, just find something else to do for a few days. Read a book, play a video game, hang out with some friends, listen to good music. Just do something you enjoy and you won't even think about bud. Okay, so you will, but you won't mind the sobriety as much.

It depends on what you're comfortable with. Typically, I will take some Nyquil or Alka-Seltzer Cold (Nightime) before I go to bed for the first two nights. For me, the first two nights are usually the hardest when trying to get to sleep. After that, it gets a little easier and by weeks end, I usually end up on a normal sleep schedule.

If I can coordinate it all right, then I just go out drinking with some friends or at a bar and get sloshed. Usually one night of some hard drinking will do me fine and I don't need anything after that to get back to sleeping normally.

If neither of those are an option, than just having something to do is good. I've played video games all night to make it through the first night and then ended up back on a normal sleep schedule. A long interstate drive also works, if thats an option. Excersise is definately a healthy and viable option.

The one thing I'd advise against is any type of sleeping pill. They tend to be too weak and sometimes you can get dependent on them to fall asleep, not a good thing.

As far as your tempermant, I don't know. I'm crabby by nature so I don't notice a change when I stop smoking. The only advice I could give is to think before you speak or act.
...I said my piece, so now, I hush.

Ive usually always got gear (bout an 8th of hash crumbs stashed in my rolling box)
But sometimes I stop for a few days.. usually if ive had a night with some mates round.. doing bongs j's pipes ect my chest is weezy as fuck the next day.
I dont find it hard to stop the only time ill think about having a J is if im real stressed or before I go to sleep.
I smoke ciggys tho, and I find they help.
