    Wisdom Teeth

    Hey everybody,

In about a month or two I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed and the only thing that concerns me is the fact that wisom teeth extraction is a type of surgery. Knowing that, it's my paranoia that thinks maybe along with surgery, some kind of blood sample is needed just as a formality.

I bring this up because I've been caught by my parents for smoking about 4-5 months ago, and if I get caught again, I'm in a world of trouble. However, late this August I'm moving away (college) and am doing everything in my power to ensure I don't get caught before that happens. I smoke every other day approximately, but since I got caught I've kept the pot away from home, I always have visine handy, and a pack of mints. I go to great lengths to stay in the clear, and am just slightly worried about this wisom tooth thing that I was made aware of in my last dentist appointment a week ago. I just want to know whether this surgery is any reason to worry about a bloodwork, or if testing for pot is something that is specifically requested.

    Thanks alot

(Post Script: I could have made this post much shorter, but a sense of perspective never hurts, I don't think. Thanks again.)

lmaooooo ok now that I've gotten that outta the way, well aren't u in luck because I'm actually a dental assistant and NO no one will test your blood for anything especially marijuana. Wisdom tooth extractions are very normal, common procedure in dental offices its not that big of a deal at all to test ur blood for anything. Now I've never actually worked for an oral surgeon but I have assisted during oral surgery at general practices and the dentists never kept or tested anyones blood. Ever. I hope this answered ur question and relieved ur fear

You've just solaced more fear than you understand. I agree, my paranoia is rather irrational, but you have to understand-- I'm 4 months away from complete independence, my own place, some peace of mind... I'm so close to the freedom I've been dreaming of for years, and having it not happen over something unexpected would be a dagger through the heart.

So thanks a lot, man. Truly appreaciated.

Nah, when I had my wisdom teethe out they didn't do anything like that. I went in and played a gameboy while they got everything ready, then the dentist came in and gave me a few shots to the gums. My face felt like it was 3x to big, about halfway in the juice went to my head, felt like being drunk actually, without the stumbling around or puking, then I don't remember the car ride home but my mom said I was laughing. Went home, passed out, woke up later in pain, ate pudding for a week.

You cant smoke for a few days after it, my friend tried and it hurt him real bad lol. Plus it can become infected

Eh, I wouldn't neccessarily agree with that. Granted, you shouldn't smoke after that but sometimes you can get away with it. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out in one shot. After sleeping off the anestesia and whatnot, I went out and smoked that evening. I was so blitzed that my dumb ass even ate a couple of saltine crackers that evening. Twas fine... No pain, no infection, everything came up roses. At the same time though, immediately after smoking I would rinse my mouth out with Cepacol or Listerine in order to guard against infection. I wouldn't be surprised if that played into my luck. But hell, the weed worked better than the Percocet in terms of pain.
...I said my piece, so now, I hush.
