the pct trail goes into manning park b.c. from washington
no border patrol or anything.Love is patient and kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

WARNING about crossing the border into CANADA
PCT Trail is the "Pacific Crest Trail". It's a long backpacking trail that goes from Mexico to Canada. Pretty rugged up there in the North Cascades.
Which reminds me of the time I got hassled going into Canada. I had been backpacking/mountaineering in the North Cascades for an entire month. I thought it might be fun to go into Vancouver for dinner and decided to drive on up. Having lived out of a tent for the last 30 days I was pretty grubby, plus I had long hair and drove a car covered in Grateful Dead stickers. As I sat waiting to go through the check point I watched as one car after another was passed though with a wave and a smile. When they got to me it was "Please pull over there and report to customs" So I go in and get the third degree. Then they come out and search my car. First they went digging through my backpack with a fine tooth comb. That was pretty funny actually, since it had all the funky, rank smelling clothes that I had been wearing for a month and hadn't yet washed. The look on the guy's face was priceless. Finding nothing there they dug through the rest of the car until the guy says "how many fireworks are you bringing in?" I'm like "what? None?" So he holds up one tiny firecracker and says "then whats this? Smuggling fireworks is a crime. We could arrest you, confiscate your automobile, blah blah blah..." I was totally tripping out by this point and explained that I had left for my trip just after July 4th and that one must have just rolled under the seat and been forgotten. He continued to give me bunch of crap but finally let me go.
Coming back in to the U.S. was just as bad.
