I've used them for secondary lighting but never as the main source. In addition to Ebay take a look in craigslist. I've seen tons of cheap lights advertised there.

It came with a 4 inch wide bulb a cord and a metal reflector attached to a spring loaded clip (to ease mounting to something I guess) I had very healthy plants....they were healthier than my plants that I had outside in the california sun.
