Take for instance a 400w HPS and a 1000w HPS. Is the heat given out buy the 1000w much more than the 400w. Is it more or less the same? I'm guessing its more but is it a shit load more heat to deal with.

Yeah, the higher the wattage, the more power out put and therefore the more heat energy.

Temperatures over 98f multiply the chance of hermie by a lot. Even if you are using CO² temperature that high can be a big problem.
But it's more how long they were held at that temperature. An hour is fine not good but should be fine. A day is pushing it but longer the that and you are looking for trouble.

Yeah man me too. I'm around 90% I'm going have to wait and see I'm mean growth is fine they are growing fine and fast, I mean I do have good air circulation with a fan blowing on the plants but thats what my temps range now from 87-92
but its either that or throw in the towel for me so I'll have to wait and see if I get hermies. I do however have supethrive hoping that it would take away some stress from some problems like this

superthrive will not help with heat stress save it. The roots are fine, now if you can chill the res water that would be great for the plants. You can live with 92f even 95f but just keep an eye on them closely and you will be fine. Look to the lower branches first and the ones close to the main stock.
Hermies are not the end of the world, the flowers may have seeds to deal with but at least its a bud to smoke once you get the seeds out. Sure the THC % is less due to the fact it puts more energy into producing seeds then trichomes but it's not the end of the world.

I know there are all kinds of reasons (not grow related) that you wouldn't want do this, but is it possible to knock a hole in the floor of your grow space and access the cool air under the building? A fan against a 2" hole in the floor might help a lot.
just a thought.
