I might put my hen in a basket, if I had a hen that I was transporting somewhere. Maybe it's more applicable in the farm country. There's gotta be some people carrying hens around in baskets in Oklahoma !!!! How else will they stay put in the back of the pick-up with the cracked windshield.

OK, that's my argument, and I'm sticking to it.

You don??t put your hand IN the basket?not like you would an adversaries head : )

Have you ever heard of a clutch purse? It??s not a purse made out of spare car parts. It??s a clutch purse because you clutch it as opposed to wearing it on your shoulder. (I don??t know were I??m going with this) :upsidedow

My Grandma used to always say ??The worlds going to hell in a hand basket? meaning the world is in the basket that that is being transported to hell perhaps in the back of a pickup truck driven by a heathen. :glugglug:

(And yes, my car still has that big ass crack that goes all the way across my windshield. You get props for working it into the conversation  )

She??s also the only woman I know who still uses the word ??heathen? in her everyday vocabulary. God I love that woman.

No country person would ever transport their hens in a basket. What if later you wanted to use that basket for something else like tomatoes??.two words??..bird flu. Need I say more?

Spacelamb's got the right idea. I'm origionaly from Kansas so I can speak with authority on this matter. Doorthy definately had a hand basket.
