I water when the containers are lightweight and soil deep down is close to bone dry. Watch and wait as the containers filled to the brim with water settles out. If you're watering more than one plant, the drainage speed will show you which ones have better drainage, which may hint at improving soil mixes in the future or lining the bottom for drainage. Quick drainage means they were thirsty and that oxygen is getting to the roots.

Personally, I wouldn't even look at a calendar for watering and instead let the plants tell you when they're thirsty. I've gone as long as 5 days and as quickly as two days between waterings.
notanotherteensmoker Reviewed by notanotherteensmoker on . Need help, question on watering!! :D   First of all thanks to those who have helped me. I don't have pics, but my plants are doing so well..... Now the question, my plants are 5 weeks and I have them in 6" pots. They don't seem to need to be watered very often at all. I watered them Monday and it's now Friday. When I poke my finger into the soil, it's still moist about 1/2 inch down. Should I continue to wait to water them? I don't want to overwater. And if I'm not watering them every other day are they missing Rating: 5
