How much more?
I was wondering how much more would I be spending on electricity if I grew hydroponically rather than in a pot and soil?

Orange,
HI..
: )
It depends on how much light you use..
How many plants you grow...
you can use as much or as little electricity as you wish...
you can get more bang for your buck growing hydro...
the plants will grow faster and have larger yields with the same amount of light..

Well I plan on growing 2 to 4 plants at a time, but since I never grew before and trying to plan to start with hydro I might grow one plant at a time at first just incase I make a mistake. But doesnt the hydroponic system being plugged in and stuff cause the elecricity bill go up a bit more?

Maybe teens or so if you get one powerful enough to run several units.
The cheap dual outlet ones at Walfart are 3.5 watts and can run up to a 10 gallon DWC unit.
imp:
Don't know the typical water pump wattages, but I'm sure there are folks around who do.

Get a 4 or a 8 outlet air pump from the hydro shop. GH and Eco's are good. They use very little electicity and each single outlet puts out more air than a wally dual outlet air pump.
It also matters what kind of system you plan on. Like the styles that require water pumps. But they are run on timers and the electic cost is insignificant.
My bill was slightly higher when I switched to hydro..but I added more lamps so I cant really give the numbers.[COLOR=\"DarkGreen\"][SIZE=\"3\"]What dosent kill you makes you stronger
