Tear drop tattoo?

Well, for you guys that know this dont flame me lol. But I just wanna know what exactly does that tear drop on people faces mean? I'm asking this because I actually like how it looks and wanted to get one but I heard it was a gang thing and also meant that you killed some one or something. Now I dont know anything about gangs other than what I'm told by the people I know but I never asked this because they would probably think I was stupid...I dont know what it means but I dont wanna get somethin on me thats perminant and having everyone thinking I did something I didnt so before I get this I wanna know, what does it mean?

I have tats mate and the first rule should be no facial shit (makes it easy to identify you) apart from looking like a crim you will soon get sick of seeing it after a while (imo) .If you want tats they should make you individual and unique not one of thousands, you want that particular tat ?? Why?

Think about what you want to project because even though nobody says they do it we are all judged on our appearance and sometimes it does matter.
I love ink but sometimes people get it done for all the wrong reasons.

Well I'm not a criminal so I dont see how the tattoo will make me look like one and as for being identified I dont plan on doing anything illegal that will cause me to have to be identified and if I get to the point to where I DO need to do something for extra money it's not like I'm gonna do something just showing my face all out. And I dont think I'll get tired of seeing it, it's just a tatto tear and it will remind me of whats going on now (and probably whats coming in the future). As for the reason I wanted the tat read my post up there some where and you'll see why.

Like I already said the general belief is that a teardrop tat is a gang or prison thing ,by having the tat the message others will read will only be one, and it won't be what you want it to be. I personally believe that facial tats look like shit (imo) unless they are of the Maori type.
Point is if you want it then get it,what does anyones opinion matter the general opinion has already been expressed.
