Got my 400 Watt HPS/ wit MH Conversion Bulb!!
Ok, I Just got my light from inside sun, pretty good deal. Hooked everything up, mixed some Potting soil with fertalizer, Vermiculite, and a lil sand for better drainage. Soon as i plugged the light in it felt like it done blinded my ass, lol... sh*ts bright as shit compared to my florecents, puts off a slight smell too im guessin dats normal.. ok,, now i have the light hangin approx. 24' from the plant is that ok? also have a fan and im wondering what is the next thing i should get? Either maybe ph tester along with ph up/down or pearlite? Or is there anything im missing that a limited budget could cover that would help? I will be puttin pictures up in the next week.

Oh yeah, if you can, trash the conversion bulb. I'd stick with HPS for both veg and flower stages. It's my belief and experience that they are more of a gimmic, sales pitch.

MegaOctane21 , I appreciate all the info on the fan, ima go get another small fan to blow the fresh air inside...
LIP, thank u for the luck, ima post pics in the next week of the progress.
Daima, thank god that smells gonna go away, lol.. I didnt put too much sand just a couple handfulls for drainage, i was gonna get pearlite but cheaped out a lil.... I took ur advice and went to loews For that timer, put it on 24 until it sprouts, then 18/6. Im gonna try the HPS and put on my florecents aswell for some blue spectrum..
Any other info would be greatly appreciated

ok i got another fan, and planted another seed but this time i went to the local hydroponics store and bought some fox farm earthworth casting, bat guana soil. Im hoping this makes an improvment. I Know this questions prolly stupid but i planted seeds from the bottom of the bag instead of ordering a certain strain on here, is there really a big difference between seeds at the bottom of the bag or ordering seeds online?

Well, the seeds in bags of weed are from a hermiw plant, so they have more chance of being male or hermie than being 100% female, but if you do get a hermie, as long as you pull the male balls off it should still be worth growing.
Basically seeds from good seedbanks are well stabalized, and more chance of females other than hermies...
