Yeah 18-24 inches above the plants at all times. The idea with fans is to have fresh air coming in at the bottom and a fan at the top putting out filtered used air. Thing's like ph tester are important but you can make do without until you do a few grows. Your further ahead than me in the setup. Good luck with it.
