OK, I admit that I've been down to Georgia, on vacation - last year. Went to Savannah, and to visit ex-Brooklynite friends nearby. We enjoyed it, but my wife couldn't see how people can live in that gawdawful heat - and this was in early June, before it got really hot.

If I had unlimited funds, I'd get a place down there for my retirement - as a part-time vacation place, or for an escape from whatever else the crazies may hit us with in the future.

I actually like a lot of the Southerners, and their culture. It's just that we (Yankees) never say anything much when they skewer us and, well, like the guy that wrote the original rant ("Fuckthesouth.com.), they sometimes need to be gently reminded of a few things. The guy did not say one thing about inbreeding, lol.

For the record, I'm very "Brooklyn", and not crazy about Connecticut , Long Island ("Lunguyland"), and some other Eastern places. I like upstate New York, Pennsylvania, parts of Jersey, Massachusetts, and other state's towns and country. And, of course, my home town of Brooklyn.

I've taken people to task, even on this board, for their racist anti-Redneck comments. I KNOW very well what indentured servitude was, and own several books about it (which I've actually read, lol). http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/092...lance&n=283155

Jim Goad is a little too Marxist for my taste, but funny as hell, and hitā??s the mark with ā??Redneck Manifestoā?.

*Pscyh: I have very little trace of a "Brooklyn" accent, but can talk that way if I want to. People have said that I sound, on the phone, like a psychiatrist, or something.
** LW: I didnā??t write it, I just cut and pasted it. Iā??ve seen too many ā??Not a Yankeeā? remarks from Torog, and others, to pass it up.

OK, back to solving the rest of the world's problems! :stoned:
