Money drives this country, why would any government that's driven by money legalize something that will COST them money? Simple, they won't ever do it, period.

NO you're defending Bush and Nixon... the presidents in office who tried thier hardest to get marijuana illegal, not the US government as a whole. In November we have this thing they call an election. If people vote there will no longer be a republican house and hopefully senate. If that is the case people like you will be sitting at home with your thmb in your ass cause you do not think things will change. Bush may not be president in a year... he's been cencured and an article to Impeach him has been tried before... we need not have a majority republican congress and things will change... and that can happen in 8 months. Even if we don't loose Bush till '08, your ignorance to believe that we will be govern by the same people and they will change nothng is abundent. Yet because they formed a voice, they organized rally's and marches and they cried out, now, despite the best efforts of many, gay marriage and gay laws are being enacted.

please explain how the government can make more money keeping it illegal where they have to pay for the infrastructure to maintain enforcement and punishment verses legalizing and taxing a similar percentage as they do with tobacco, liquer and other 'vice tax'...

Court fees, the gov. collects a percentage of every fine paid for a bust. Pharm. companies that produce expensive perscrip. meds as well as over the counter meds pay the gov. big dollars each year to keep pot off the market because it would take away from their profits big time if pot became legal. Why would the government want company X to sell pot for 5 dollars a joint when they can sell a bottle of perscrip. pills for 480 dollars? Which sale is going to yield bigger tax dollars for the gov, do the math bro.

These are just a FEW examples. Use common sense, this country as well as the world is driven by money. If legalization meant more money coming in for the gov. it would have been done a long time ago.

What you are not seeming to grasp that even if the government loses money legalizing it, we run the government... why do you think it's right that they make all that money??
