Stay farther than one hundred miles below the border. Most of the funcky shit going on is within that hundred mile zone. All the narco traffic happens at the border, stay away. Have at least a grand in big bills hidden in some article of clothes, and dont tell anyone, ever, its to used as bribe money. No guns, thats a big nono. You can bribe your way out of most situations except the gun thing. Dont be tempted by all the cheap dope down south, just smoke em there. Dont sweat learning Spanish right now, just being around it 24/7 makes you learn fast, just take a small english/spanish dictionary. When I was running down there I liked LaPaz.The Baja has a lot of gringos so we fit right in. Remember that if you get locked up down there, your not in Kansas anymore. Youll have to get someone to come there and pay your fines, or youll never leave or go to court, etc. Hasta Las Vegas.

It dont matter where you enter. Go to a port that is open 24 hours and cross when very busy, and act normal. Dont take any cash that is not hidden. If I had to go I would ride a motorcycle across at Juarez(El Paso). Then its the Baja for me. What in the hell is the peasant life style. You will be a gringo, period. You might try becoming cabana boy, you know the one who delivers drinks. No, just kidding. Try and get a job at a hotel on the coast. Work to get money have someone, wire you money if you need. Lots of money is western unioned into old mexico. I once stayed around Mex City for 2 years, I left TJ with 50 bucks and a beat up motorcycle. Only got arrested once, man they make a mean taco in the joint there. Muy caliente.

If you're in it for the long haul then here are some more pointers.

Cancel all of your credit cards and telephones (landline and cellular). Hopefully you rent so you don't have to sell your home. You want to literally fall off the map.

Find yourself some documents. It's not hard to find papers in border towns, just ask around. You want at least a fake ID. This will help keep you off the grid.

You don't have to go to Mexico, nor flee the country. In order to arrest you, they have to know where you are. If you move to a new state and pay a landlord in cash you can lay-low for a while.

Don't call home, call your friends, or contact anyone you know from back home. This is how you get nabbed. They aren't going to launch an international manhunt to arrest some pot grower. They are going to wait for you to come to them.

REMEMBER: If you ever want to come back to the states you're going to need a fake passport anyway (or just run the border like a straight-up illegal), because once you flee court they will put you on a wanted list.

Hey James dude is right. Cut all ties. The man knows that we are creatures of habit, youll be back, he has time on his side. Its easier to do when you have no money, but thats what got you in trouble, the love of money.
