Study some history, would you? It wasn't cannabis users who made weed illegal. It was non-cannabis users in the government looking for a new Prohibition. Particularly Harry Anslinger, who opposed it because it was associated with black jazz musicians and Mexican immigrants. The actions of actual cannabis users had very little to do with it.

I doubt you'll get very many people to go along with that. I've been here a long time and most people here seem to like me. In fact, I don't think there's anyone here who particularly dislikes me. He's got his wits about him... I'll give him that much.. but that's all I'll give him. It's people like you, who put labels on people who, make the world in whole, not just a certain topic going on, bad.

It was illegalized a very time ago, I'm pretty sure not even one member here was born when it was legal, much less, have anything to do with why it was illegalized in the first place.

To say that it's people like him that make it so the general public won't tollerate legalization, would be like saying that the Germans today should be punished for what people did along time ago, just becuase they just happened to be from the same place as their ancestors.

You remind me a lot of myself when I was in college not long ago. I was an English major and wanted to be a high school English teacher. That plan fell through when I was taking a student teacher practicum and realized that most English teachers began as idealists like me, but soon gave up on a lot of their own principals once the reality of having to teach high schoolers set in. I didn't want to be like that!! Still, I had enough credits under my belt to complete the major, which I did eventually. Soon after, I discovered the theatre program at my school and it was like a light went on...I finally found what truly excited me and that semester studying theatre was the best of my life. I feel like that was when I truly found myself.
So now I'm rambling about my own life, but my point is that your life is what you make it. You know what's best for you. Perhaps taking a year off will do you some good and make you happier. You should expand your realm of experience, travel maybe, take a road trip, and meet new people. Maybe you'll find what you're looking for that isn't in the classroom. And you know what? You can always go back to school and finish up your degree later.
Sometimes I feel like I should have taken a year off myself to reevaluate my life. I would have saved me some money. My student loans have put me $50,000 in debt and now I'm struggling to find a way to pay them off. I'm not bitter or anything because that one semester of theatre was worth it all. But you should do what you like. Good luck!
