Buying a light tomorrow - NEED HELP CHOOSING

I decided I'm gonna pick up a 400 W HPS tomorrow from bghydro and get a hortilux bulb for flowering and MH conversion bulb for veg. I need help picking a light. I'm gonna be growing in a closet and I've been reading a lot about lights getting too hot. Out of the lights at this link, which do you guys think would be the least expensive option that would run cool enough so that heat wouldn't be a problem?

please take a look and offer suggestions.

    here's the link: http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/items.asp...atus=0&Tp=&Bc=

would something like the Maximizer for $169 just get way too hot in a closet?

thanks in advance for all of your help. a week ago i knew nothing. now i feel like i'm (almost) ready to do this and i'm pretty confident it will work.

Buying a light tomorrow - NEED HELP CHOOSING

    Hey Taylor,

    1st, welcome to the boards!

2nd, good choice in doing business with BGHydro, they're great! There are many other companies, and many other good companies, but, I've only dealt with BGHydro... and, in my opinion, they're excellent!

    ......
    The Maximizer... looks good.

BGHydro has live help... if you're growing in a closet, ask them if / how a "sealed hood" can be arranged... I'm not 100% sure if they've got sealed hoods for 1 bulb...
I got a kit from the with a sealed hood for two bulbs... anyways, the sealed hood (with glass at the bottom, and cooling duct flanges) are great. They'll really help you keep the temperatures in check inside your closet....

Check to see if the measurements of the hood fit inside your closet... at any event, order the kit you mentioned, and build a cool tube.

    Peace,

A HPS will ALWAYS give you a higher yield than using flouros, but they definately have their place for sidelighting during flowering (to give a few more grams and denser buds).

If you want 125-200 watt cfl's...they are always on ebay. Big cfl's also produce a moderate amount of heat.

If you are in closet I would go with 250w hps(get a son t agro max bulb, they don't make 250 horti, and one of my bro's in the industry...told me that his customers were experiencing problems with the 400w horti-)...veg with some cfl's...

you still need fans and you will have to vent, unless you can leave door open. no way around that. hope this helps.

    did that answer your question

here are 3 pix of a barren MUM that I flowered under a 250hps son T agromax bulb...I vegged this particular plant under the same lamp...no cfl's...nada...goodluck

notice the standard for shelfs...they are 2 feet apart.
