first grow questions
well i'm preparing for my first grow, haven't even set up the grow room just getting info right now but looking at the way i'm going to have to set it up SOG or ScrOG would definitely be the simplest grow methods with the space i have. Now its my first grow ever, so my main question to u experienced growers is, should i get at least a couple of regular grows under my belt before delving into sog and scrog? also if it is acceptable to grow with one of these methods for ur first time, what are some strains that take well to this method? i'm looking for a mostly sat hybrid probably, but its not hugely important. Anyways, any info will be greatly apprecaited

It probably best if you grow just like 2 plants normally, to get a feel for growing and caring for plants, but if you READ and READ and READ there's nothing to say you cant pull of a great sog grow.
I'd use a single cola non bushy plant for sog/scrog so I'd say Northern Lights or Super Skunk

Not all strains are good for SOG growing. If this is your first grow then why not just grow dirt and get a grow or too under your belt before you try to constrict the plant's light. Learn the signs of leaf problems and learn how to watch your plants they will tell you if something is wrong with them.
Start with good light and the proper nutrients. Use good soil that has no nutrients added to it. Make sure you have the proper drainage and water does not just sit and stew in the soil that can cause you problems.
Just a few things I thought you may want to know.
Walk before you try to run, it can save you money and frustration in the long run.
My 2ΒΆ worth, most important thing is to relax and have fun.

alright thanks, yea i have been reading everything i can get my hands on, mostly just a couple books from borders, (cannibus grow bible twice and indoor growing guide), but i have pretty much no experience growing anything so im sure it will take some time. I think im gonna just buy like a 10 pack of seeds and do 3, then 3, then 4.
i can't waitnothing has ever held my attention like this, but i discovered that i can make the "fine wine"esque culture of cannibus a reality without moving to amsterdam or something

I'd suggest that you first start very simple. Try a setup that uses something like two cheap CFLs and just regular organic potting soil. Get some cheap seeds and put them in the soil and see how it goes.

thats what im doing right now. i bet i spent $40 on the lights, im just using 2 2' fl fixtures with indoor plant bulbs... maybe they are just a gimmick but what the hell, its still super cheap.
i got some good grade sterile potting soil for like $5 from wally world, and some miracle grow fertilizer spike for $2.
im not really expecting too too much, but i dont want an outrageous electric bill or too much free time devoted to something that my life doesn't revolve around.
ps i didnt find out about regular light bulbs promoting stem growth until i had mine all supported with stakes, then i transplanted them deeper into a bigger pot, i have 4 pots and 13 plants. probably too many still but hey.. you know, its just for funnzies right?
adios
