I'd like to take that hike up that "yodeling" game on the Price is Right, with the hiker going up the price mountain and you don't want him falling off. The closer he gets to the peak, the more money I can win.

Your favorite place(s) to hike?
There are so many awesome places to hike, it's hard to choose any one, or even a few. The places I go most though are:
Yosemite National Park- The Yosemite High Country to be specific. It's beautiful and you can escape the hordes of people who flock to Yosemite Valley.
Anywhere in the Redwood Forests on the Northern California coast.
Plus, I'm only minutes away from hundreds of miles of trails in the mountains that surround Silicon Valley.

I forgot about Redwood National Park home of the world's tallest tree, I slept on the bank of the river listening to the sound of water passing by as I fell asleep..........

I highly suggest a trip to Isle Royale for you hardcore backpackers out there. It's an island in the middle of Lake Superior... you hop on a 4 hour ferry ride that takes you out there and drops you off. There's some great caves too explore, and it's a pretty demanding hike as well. The only downside is you can't have open fires because of wildfire risk.

Your favorite place(s) to hike?
it sucks when a few hacks who don't/can't have a small, containable fire makes it impossible for the rest of us to enjoy a nice fire....
there's always something missing when I go camping and can't have a fire.....

I think it's because there was a natural fire there years ago, and now the islands recovering, but they dont want to run the risk of another fire wiping it out again. I know what you mean though, carrying around gas grills sucks and its not the same without cooking over an open fire.
