In the US, the number of non-religious people has more than doubled from 14.3 million in 1990 to 29.4 million in 2001; their proportion has grown from just eight percent of the total in 1990 to over fourteen percent in 2001.

This was the greatest increase in absolute as well as in percentage terms among all religious groups.

The Bible is NOT true, it is NOT an historical document, and was never meant to be. It is myth (not in the sense that it is a lie), but it true in terms of wisdom and philosophy. The stories in the Bible are not meant to be an historical account of what happened in the Middle East 2000-3000 years ago (I dare you to ask any archeaologist or historian no scholar in the world considers Scripture as a primary source for facts), they are meant to be a collection of stories which make us think, make us look inside ourselves and find whatever wisdom we are looking for.

We are not supposed to pray as if we are asking someone else something, we are supposed to pray, and then look inside our minds and our hearts, and inevitable the answer will be there. Other cultures call it meditation, but call it what you will, it's the same.

The reason why people THINK God is a man is because he created MAN in his image... hence... God = a man... however... I think God is neither man nor woman... but he retains manly features... I seriously doubt God has a penis..

The Church wanted to undermine and destroy the Pagan religions of the time. The so called 'pagans' were Mother-Nature worshipping people, who worshipped nature and the believed in the divinity of the female. They took part in sexual rituals, and the such. The Church, wanting to undermine this, went about murdering so-called 'witches', trying to portray women as evil; they adopted a hierachical system, with men becoming the more powerful; they portrayed their God as a male; they told the story of Adam who gave rise to Eve; they made sex a 'sin', instead of the divine, wonderful thing it was seen as; and many more.. all to undermine the so called 'pagan' religious of the time, and to gain control for themselves. THATS why i dislike the christian religion - theyre based from a history of conquest, deceipt, and blood-shed
