Ive got a 600w HPS in a tiny ass closet, a little smaller than yours... so dont worry about fires. As long as you dont put any paper etc on top of the reflector, youll be fine.

A lot of peole have those fears.. They are healthy. If you can.. get a fire extinguisher and keep it in your room...

Check on your plants regularly.. And when you first turn on the light try to stay home with your grow for 24 hours. If something bad is going to happen it will probably happen i the first 24 hours..
