I could do with a few Ideas ................

Hello , I've put this on a seperate thread from the grow journal because I really do need as many Ideas, suggestions and help as I can get.

The leaves on the present grow seem to be going a horrible rusty colour and I seem to be coming to a "dead end" with everything I can think off.
Swizzy and Kush Over both suggest using Epsom Salts, which I intend to do as soon as I can get hold of some ................ affraid I can't get into town today to pick any up

So I'll just post a few pics of the spreading discolouration and if you can think of anything, or any ideas I'll be very gratefull

Oh by the way three of them are in different compost but it is affecting all the plants

    Thankyou ............................. love mand xxx

This is a normal process for your plants. While new growth shoots up, older leaves will wilt, dry, and eventually fall.

Your plants are becoming toddlers and simply losing their baby teeth.

Keep them properly watered and they'll be fine.

Hey mand I am afraid you may have a few problem with them dear. Salt build up is one problem for sure but it's just caused the other problems that's why different plants are affected. What is the Ph of the soil and what is the Ph of the water you are feeding them with? Toasty brown leafs are a sigh of zinc deficiency and possible a fungus. Intervenal chlorosis and burned tips along with small stunted dark green new growth are caused by excessive salts.

Hello and thankyou very much for the replies, very much appreciated

Zandor, I have no idea about the PH value, you know me simple, easy and just plain lazy
Anyway I read you're post and well I know they aren't right, so I thought it's time for drastic action here, ethier "kill or cure".
They are looking to me lke a bit of a "lost cause" and to be honest I ever since I got divorced "I don't do lost causes"

So I've re-potted in totally different compost, gave them a quite severe prunning and absolutely drenched them ....................... now I'll give them a little longer to improve, if they don't I'll bin them and start in the other growroom as the temprature should be ok by then.

Thankyou all .................................. love mand xxx

Good move Mand! No doubt they should have a few days to adjust to their new 'surroundings' before you decided to 'bin them'. Although if done right transplanting causes very little if any slow down.

Ya know you can buy very inexpensive pH testing supplies at pet stores. They aren't super accurate, but it would at least give you an idea of what your water pH is. But if you've never had problems in the past with something like this, it probably isn't the water. My guess would be the compost, as I suggested a while back. Hey maybe your wacky neighbor was peein' in it!!!

Hopefully you can learn from this and if it ever rears it's head again will know the proper steps to take. It for sure isn't normal.

Have a good one Mand! Sorry you're having problems...again.

Hello Marc , Ah not to worry love I think the main problem with growing just lately is I've gone too "soft" with them
I said I was going to revert back to growing as I did on previous grows but I haven't, I seem to have been just to busy "fannying and faffing" about with them. After all there just plants, just a bit of vegetable matter that I grow for one purpose only. No more fans, thermometers or anything like that, just proper basic stuff
From now on I go in there once a day or every other day and if they don't shape up soon .............. they are history

Anyway Marc, the next lot are going to be done in the garage, that's where I have had some very nice grows, grows to actually be proud off, unlike the dismal attempts that I've been doing recently

Oh and one thing that is definately certain ............. no more grow journals, they are just jinxed, cursed or whatever you may call it

    Mand,
    Dear...

The plants really are fine.. re-pptting them is fine.. but pruning them is a major NO NO...

The rust on them was necrotic and definitley was from the inside out...
As long as a plant has vigourous new growth you are always doing "better" than "ok"...

Pruning is 90% of the time a NO NO.. in all cases...

Are you not PHing your water?

Did you transplant them into a new soil? A new brand... or the same brand?

I think you know to let your soil dry out NOW.... easy on the watering

Hang tight dear.. if you PH your water you should not have to feed any time soon...

    please post more pics..

    NOW there is ONLY LOVE

I agree pruning them was not the best idea. It could shock them a little so when they recover just watch for hermies.

I still say you have the best Avatar on the whole forum...sexy...very sexy:upsidedow
