what makes ROOR products so special is that they utilize "difused downstems" (ones with little holes in the tip). The difused downstem functions by forcing the smoke from the bowl through a group of little holes (instead of one big hole) before entering the water chamber. The cooling and filtering that takes place in a water pipe occurs on the surface of the smoke bubbles, therefore the more surface area (lots of tiny little bubbles) you can create the better. also with the glass-on-glass connection joints, you get a much better fit that means more smoke and less air for every hit you take.

P.S. I "borrowed" some of the information above from the Masters of Glass section in the HEADS issue (Vol. 6 - Issue 03) that I picked up last week. I hope to have enough money one day to purchase my very own ROOR bong, but first I have to get my Volcano vaporizer.
