If they can't come over the right way, then don't come over. It's just making it harder for people to come over legaly when some douchebag is just jumping the fence.

Love is patient and kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

    mexicans on the march

I've always been against illegal immigration, especially since my wife immigrated legally and I know what dealing with the INS is all about. It's not fun, trust me. So it pisses me off when people think it's ok to simply not bother.

That being said, I think making illegals felons is ridiculous. It just opens up a huge can of worms with enormous ramifications down the road. Especially since it would make aiding an illegal alien a felony as well. People's first thought tends to be "great, punish those who hire illegals" But it's not just the employers. It's also teachers, doctors, nurses, etc . A teacher who suspects a child may be here illegally would be forced to turn the student in or he could be charged with a felony as well. Basically this would turn any professional who might come into contact with illegals a defacto immigration officer.

I live in San Jose, California and the population is about 30%+ Hispanic. The stereotype Mexican is either a gang-banger, or lazy sombrero wearing tequila drinker. This is dead wrong, however, most of the Mexicans I have known are some of the hardest working people around. They bust their asses doing shit jobs that knowbody else wants and do it for far less $ than anyone else would.

What we need is some kind of migrant worker program. A new type of visa that is fairly easy to obtain and but is clearly temporary. Place certain restrictions on it, give the workers some kind of tax id#, etc. Something that will benefit both the migrant workes as well as the rest of us. Anything but this ridiculous new idea of making illegals felons.

-And for the "tax evading" and healthcare issue: I have no doubt that illegal immigrants wouldn't care if they paid taxes, given they get higher wages. The true criminals are the businesses that hire: they are the only ones that are evading taxes. At least we agree that they should be held accountable  .
It??s not my intention to present both sides of anything. I present my side I??m not a reporter. :smokin:

How is it not ??cutting in line?? If you are in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant and someone sneaks in and snatches your donor heart out of the cooler and runs next door to have it implanted into his own chest. IMO that person is a dirty bastard who cut in line. Both men had a need for the heart yet one man decided that his own need was greater than anyone else??s. Which also happens to makes him selfish.

I also think that we should give the ones who are here an opportunity at citizen ship. Only because it makes fiscal sense and has a better opportunity with success. However, those who fail to register and pay taxes (your right they would get higher wages) would be deported. No need for lawyers for everyone you either registered or you didn??t your either illegal or your not??deported case closed.

The American people allow it to happen because for so long they have closed one eye to the situation and allowed it to happen. People don??t like to be called racist or fascist or whatever the popular word is these days so they pretend they don??t notice. American business would do it if the public demanded it of them.

I remember that huge ad campaign back in the 80??s that was about ??Made in the USA? label on things. It got people pretty fired up sadly I think it ultimately died because of some type of controversy but it was still a good campaign? they should bring it back. Personally, I think the only reason why no major American corporation has done it is because none of them carry enough American made products to keep them in business. It would be like shooting themselves in the foot.
