The Devil is the self or ego that we all must conquer. The concept of the "devil" originated when the Jews became associated with another montheistic religion....Zoroastrianism. Later on...the Devil became personified as an actual entity.

Orthodox Christians fail to realize that their New Testament Bible was not even officially canonized until the 6th century AD! The Gospel of Thomas is said to have predated all the other gospels and is said to be the actual "Q" source which was the lost sayings gospel that the 3 synoptic gospels were sourced from, although I could be wrong about that.

The Gospel of Mark was the first canonical gospel written. Actually in Mark, there is no record of a devil talking to Jesus in the wilderness and in the original manuscript there is no mention of Jesus actually rising from the dead. It just says a man was by the tomb...however in Luke I think it mentions 2 ANGELS at the tomb instead of a man. Well..which was it? A man or 2 angels? Fundementalists say the Bible has no contradictions, yet there is a pure contradiction there.

Mark chap 16 verse 9-20 were added later to it and so many fundementalists base their ideology on that added verse. See what happens if you don't pay attention and find the truth!!!???
