Any words of wisdom out there? Anyone been through this before? I know I can always make the roadtrip up to Canada, but I sorta thought I'd find some cool US types close by and local to hang with.
I was in a band going nowhere fast
We handed out our demos but everybod past
One day we decided to take the plunge
Moved out to Seattle to play some grunge
Washington state that is
Space needle....Eddie Vedder...Kurt Cobain

Now to fit in fast we wear falnnel shirts
We turn up our amps until it hurts
We've got bad attitudes and whats more
When we played we stare straight at the floor
Wowie
Pretty scarey
How pensive
How totally alternative

Now to fit in on the Seattle scene
You've got to do something they aint never seen
So thinking up a gimmic one day
We decided to be the only band that wouldnt play a note
Under any circumstance
Silence
Musics original alternative
Roots grunge

Well we spread the word through the underground
That we were the hottest new thing in town
The record guy came out to see us one day
And just like always we didnt play
It knocked him out
He said he loved our work
He said he loved our work but he wasnt sure if he could sell a record
With nothing on it
I said, tell him we're from Seattle
He advanced us 2.5 million dollars

Well they made us do a video but that wasnt tough
'Cuz we just filmed ourselves smashing stuff
It was kinda weird 'cuz there was no music
But MT said they'd love to use it

The kids went wild, the kids went nuts
Rolling stone gave us a 5 star review said we played with guts
We're scoring chicks, taking drugs
Then we got asked to play MT unplugged
You should of seen it
We went right there out there and refused to do the acoustical versions of the electrical songs we had refused to record in the first place
Then we smashed our shit

Well we blew'em away at the grammy show
By refusing to play and refusing to go
And then just when we thought fame would last forever
Along came a band that wasnt even together
Now thats alternative
Now thats alternative to alternative
I feel stupid
and contagious

Well our band got dropped and that aint funny
'Cuz were all hooked on drugs, but we're out of money
So the other day i called up the band
I said boys i've taken all i can
Shave off your goatees
Pack the van
We're going back to san Francisco:dance:

Welcome to Seattle:thumbsup:
