Wife says yes to grow

Well after getting hold of some bad weed that made the Misses really sick, she has given me the 'green' lite to start taking care of the problem myself.
So here's the deal, I need to find a reliable way to grow 2 lbs at a time, that way I only have to do 2 grows a year.
I was kinda hopin' that I could be pointed in the right direction when it comes to the books to avoid and the ones to buy. And of course, if someone would like to share a surefire system to do a grow like a described then feel free.
