If it's not your property then i would say yes its disrespectful. Those pipes are not yours, they are your mothers and they are her's until she gives them to you, you buy them from her.

To you it's just a pipe, a nice one no doubt. However this pipe could mean a lot more to your mother and you would truly be disrespecting her the most.
