I was reading a post where someone brought up the idea that cannabis should be legal to grow but not legal to sell. That person's opinion is that they would give it away for free, if at all. What is your opinion on this?

Personally I agree with their statement for a few reasons.

1) I wouldn't be too upset if the laws were changed to allow for "personal" growth and use of cannabis. It would be a small yet logical step towards the complete legalization of cannabis. Think about it, would you rather grow your own cannabis, or risk being arrested for buying it from another individual? It would definitely reinforce the concept of cannabis for personal use, as it technically is a protected (at least in by the U.S. constitution, "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.") basic personal right.

2) If cannabis is considered a sacred plant by a religion, then the exchange of it for money would contradict it's categorization as a sacrament.

3) It would easily eliminate the need for people to break the law and be exposed to harder more dangerous substances, if they didn't even need to leave their house to enjoy cannabis. It would isolate the production and use of cannabis to a single private home.

4) It would also reduce the number of young adults and children (under the age of 18) that use cannabis. If a parent didn't want their children to use cannabis, they simply wouldn't allow for it to be grown on their property.

5) I also think that a lot less people would use cannabis, because most people either are too busy or too lazy to go through the trouble of nuturing several plants for at least 2 months at a time. The number of cannabis users would drop significantly.

These are just some simple thoughts of mine. I'm not saying that I'm right (please try to prove me wrong) or that this would be my ideal situation for the ability to use a natural plant. They are just some thoughts of mine that hopefully get some discussion going on this topic. imp:

P.S. Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense or seems like I'm rambling, but I have only had 6 hours of sleep in the past few days. If it wasn't for my dream of one day being able to enjoy cannabis without fear, I wouldn't have to work so hard on a new project that I've started. If only I could train monkeys to do most of the work for me.....hey...now there's a good idea.
