ask any lamp worker if salt makes scratches and they will usually say, probably but I am still waiting to see one. but if it does scratch there is always a flame polish which is part of the properties of how cool glass is. had to add borosilicate glass is extremely hard to scratch we use, diamond tools to scratch and scour them and even then it is a process.
