dull high due to prolonged use
Been smoking regularly, at least 5 times a week for over a year and a half. I used to feel euphoria, happiness, inner peace. I was so happy I forgot about food and actually lost 30 pounds in three months.
Everything is different now however. I no longer feel the euphoria at all. I get the munchies real bad when I smoke. And after I eat I generally cant keep my eyes open because I'm so tired.
I'm currently considering abstaining for a few months to see if cleaning myself out would help me get the old feeling back. But I also have to consider that before I smoked I struggled with a life long depression caused by a chemical imbalance that pot has been a huge help with. And when I stop smoking I'll get depressed and crabby. Also I've found that if I dont smoke (because I smoke so regularly) I just dont get tired enough to go to bed for days on end.

stopping won't make you not be able to go to sleep. It'll just make it harder, or you'll just have to go to bed later than you usually would. You probably will only get depressed if you think you will. When i quit for a month it's not as bad as you think it might, it almost made me wanna stay sober for good. But, just excersize a lot all the time, that'll release the thc outta your fat cells quicker, and you'll just feel good all the time if you do it right. it'll be worth it in the end.

dull high due to prolonged use
I've gone a month before without smoking and during that month my depression returned and I couldn't sleep at all for the first four days and afterwards sleapt much lighter.
When I smoked again after a month of not smoking I still didn't feel much exept hungry and tired but I continued to smoke anyway because it helped with the depression by clearing my head and allowing me to relax.
How many months of not smoking would it take to resume feeling anything other than tired when I do smoke again?
I'm considering growing a plant and waiting for it's harvest. I've never done it before though and I dont know how long that would be.
Thaughts/advice?

Do you know what strain your getting? It sounds like you used to be smoking something with a higher percentage of sativa and then switched to an indica. Indica's are known to be more likley to make you sleepy and not have so much of a euphoric head high. If you have a choice, try finding a strain that primarily sativa and see if that helps..

Really, you're body doesn't build up a tolerance to it. A lot of factors influence your high. I used to laugh all the time with my girlfriend, when we smoked. Then we stopped laughing and she stopped smoking. Now, it's only smiles.

take a 2 week break. a lot of what you're feeling is psychological though, i've gone through the same thing... pot, after awhile, loses its mystique and novelty. this can especially occur when smoking becomes very easy for you to do, and if it's readily available.
for me, a 2 week break cures this because by the end of the 2 weeks i feel like i've accomplished something and smoking is much better. also, try not to smoke to help you get to sleep, because this can be hard on the brain when you try to sleep sober
many would disagree strongly, but i think that marijuana is much more rewarding when used on (semi)occasion (3-5 times a week but not every day)

I have no idea what strain it is. I dont know much about that. It's just available to me through alot of different people who dont really talk about where they get it from so I really dont have much of a choice in that.
Another good reason to try growing my own and just waiting for the harvest of it. I can get to know more about the plant and the way it's grown and how to use it and the different strains and what not. While giving my body a chance to re-adjust.
Thanks for all the great advice. Pot smokers might be the most compassionate people I have ever known.

You dont need to quit for month or whatever, just smoke in the evenings...Wait till 4:20 everyday, and you will be BAAAAAAAAKED when you hit that bong. Of course if you smoke all day, everyday, it will get dull. Doing anything all day long would be boring, no matter what it is.
And smoke less..there is a reverse tolerance that happens with weed, where even long term smokers can get WAY BAKED if they abstain for a day in between bakes.

i find taking 1-2 week breaks every 2-3 weeks a good way to reduce your tolerance

It's my thoughts that many people who are predisposed to depression are habitual pot smokers. It's a way to self-medicate. However, just so you know, marijuana is a depressant. And that is a fact. But hell, it still makes you feel good.
