There's about six weeks where the sun comes up around 10:00am and sets around 2:00 pm but its more like dusk, but its all depends where you are---in Barrow there's a month of darkness.....
BUT in the summer......it can be 12 midnight and I might be boating, hiking, riding my ATV AND wearing my sunglasses where all the lower 48'ers are in bed sleeping, its awesome when you can sleep late, do chores for hours and leave for fun at 4pm knowing the sun will be there at 3am!

I seen hundreds of caribou crossing a river, its one of the few places in the US where you can go big game hunting in a boat.

The most bears I ever seen(at one time,in one place) were 14 --moms and thier cubs fishing.

I park my snowmobile outside my house and I can be in the mountains in 15 minutes--no pick-up/trailer/driving/hotels/etc. in the Brooks Range.

I never get tried of seeing a dozen Bald Eagles hangin' in a tree

Like most places there are always positives and negatives............
