Stop me before I kill again! ...Part two

Transplant immediately! My plants at 3 weeks were at least double that size. There is no way those cups are allowing for sufficient root growth. Get some 3-5 gallon pots and mix some soil soon. Also, what Kelvin is that light, it may be worth investing in a 6500K CFL (looks like you have a warm 3000K bulb in that pic) to get some blue wavelength on those babies. Whatever you do tho, transplant. Other than that, it looks like those plants are definitely save-able. Good luck, hope it all goes well.

They look like the roots are not getting any oxygen. Either overwatering or dense soil and overwatering

And/or you should get some pots with holes at the bottom...

Mix your soil with ~40% perlite

Yeah, I do have some drainage holes in the bottom and I did mix perlite into the soil, I guess not enough, I'm transplanting today and will put more perlite in the soil. Thanks so much for all the feedback!

Mixing like 80% peat moss in with the dirt may also be a great idea

I agree with the last three posts...

when you re-pot.. add perlite to yor soil.. it is really cheap...
mix in about 20% perlite to 80% soil...

I'm curious, why shouldn't you use clear containers. Also when I repotted them, I saw how rootbound they were. They were all tick at the bottom of the cups. I did as you all said with the perlite, this time, I added more than before. I hope I didn't use too much. and I fertilized them, with a very weak concentration. Hopefully they'll pep up. Only time will tell. Thanks again.

While it's not the worst ever, there is also some significant stretch in those babies. Get your lights right down on them, especially since you're using CFL. When you transplant them, put them deep so their stems are supported. Since flouros don't put that much heat out, get them about 1-2 inches away, the closer the better (without touching the plants with the bulbs).

Although really, fork out the cash for an HPS or MH lamp, they're totally worth it. But, it's understandable that you may be on a tight budget.

When your dirt gets exposed to light.. weird shit will grow in it..

If "weird shit" is not sufficient for you, then I am sure KARMA will give you more details... LOL..

Either way, you do not want weird shit growing in your soil..

NOW here is the controversy.. many many people say that roots do not want light exposure... and I agree 100% expect...

Every once in awhile somebody will post some pictures of some amazing plants.. both Hydro and dirt.. and the roots of these plants will be exposed to lights...

    GO figure...

    i love you
