Ive had what were traditionally straight fems stress into full time hermaphrodites too, at least thats my observation of what had happened. Wind blown pollen may well have played a part though the other characteristics didnt change noticably.
Also, on jurassic park, all the dinosaurs they created were females. But like one of them said, "nature will find a way" and sure enough it did, eggs were found!
