Ok everyone listen!

The combustion of organic matter (burning plants) produces carsonagenics.

Carsonagenics cause cancer.

Therefor smoking weed gives will eventualy give you cancer.

But the chance of getting cancer increase with the amount you smoke, the action of other chemicals in the weed (there have been sugestions that THC counters cancer).

In my oppinion if you smoke a joint a day for 50 years the chance of getting cancer is low enough to justify you doing it. But do your research as new developments happen every day.

It's not just a suggestion that THC fights cancer. Actually, it's quite the opposite from your post, mullmaniac. Scientists say there's no evidence smoking weed will give you lung cancer. This doesn't mean that smoking has no side-effects. You can develop bronchitis and your chances of a heart attack increase five-fold, but you most likely will not get cancer. If you wanna be extra careful, use a bong, as this filters out more than 99% of tar.

Well i like to think of myself as a scientist .

Your right that there is no evedance that smoking weed will give you cancer as there hasnt been any tests carried out as it is illigal! Trust me it will give you cancer if you smoke enough of it.

And bongs filter out about 30% of tars and carsonagenics (yes theres a big differance) but they filter out about 40% of the THC so over all there worse for you but not but much.

And yes it is just a suggestion that THC fights cancer, there is no real credible evidance for it so what else can it be but a suggestion?

I have no proof of it but i think that as far as cancer, cigs are just as dangerous as weed, but cigs are physicly addictive which makes them (in my oppinion) a lot worse.

As for that bronchitis thing, that is true as when you smoke the mucus lineing of you lungs surrounds and expels the tars leaveing the lungs open for attack thus resulting in bronchitis and other such infections.

it's not illegal to high grade scientists. Go to the url I posted. You may think of yourself as a scientist but "no offense" real scientists, the one with degrees, have actually studied these things. There IS credible evidence. You simply have to research.

By the way, THC isn't water soluble. However, this subject is an example of why no good evidence can be found. The FDA says water pipes filter 99% of tar out of niccotine, but we can't test it for marijuana, now can we?

You're right about the filtering thing. I'm still not jumping on board and saying it filters 40% of THC, but it doesn't work very well at filtering out tar and carcinogens.

No question is stupid. From study in Psychology, there is no evidence that cannabis is the cause of cancer. Also keep this in mind, if the cause of cancer is related to smoke itself, one does not smoke cannabis as much as one smokes cigs. What I mean is, you would have to smoke about two packs worth of cannabis a day in order to be worried and that is basically impossible since that would be smoking almost a quarter of an ounce a day. Not many can afford that and you would fall asleep before you could even smoke about half that much. But if you look in the textbooks - the ones that show the truth of things - they actually still say under investigation, lol. They just don't want to admit the truth of it since it's illegal.

I personally believe smoking anything has a chance of you getting cancer, especially if you do it all the time, but I agree that cigs are worse (even though I smoke) because they are physically addictive and ultimately caused a lot of health problems

Cancer is caused by abnormal cell division, and that can be caused by 2 things
1: constant irritation
2: high presense of carcingoneic material

Now, smokers (cigarettes) are constantly smoking (irritation) and taking in lotsa carcinogenic material
Weed smokers tak in less smoke, less often, and there is less carcinogenic material.
tobacco companies add chemicals into their product.
weed is all natural. no additives

thus
weed=safer than tobacco

Ergo (X equals set amount)
tobacco = more smoke taken in, more carcinogenic material per X amount taken in.
Weed=Less smoke taken in, less carcinogenic material per X taken

X Weed = less harmful than X tobacco

Normally, X Tobacco is taken 12+ times daily
Normally, X Weed is taken 1-3 per day, depending on frequency of use .

Tobacco is used daily, and is also used very frequently per day.

Weed is used very infrequently per day, and usually not every day.

Tobacco = more frequent, more damage.

Weed is therefore better for you than tobacco

Tobacco takes years of smoking to get cancer (ten +)

you smoke about 1/5th of the amount of weed than most do tobacco

tobacco = 5x weed = X

so, 50 years of weed smoking will get you cancer. maybe.

So, In conclusion, no, weed will prbably not give your cancer
