No doubt about it, mainstream rap today sucks Young Jeezy once said "Patty cake, patty cake, microwave..." that rhyme is downright pathetic. But if you start to look a little deep at old school shit like pac, biggie, jay z, nas, mobb deep you'll see there is amazing talent with their multi syllable rhymes and just overall finess. Anyone can rap like young jeezy and 50 cent, but look a little deeper and you realize the complex production and lyrics that used to be what rap was all about.

Thank you, my point exactly...I cant stand the new artists, well, most of them. This is why I only listen to "old school rap". I like your list, but perhaps I could add Big Punisher. Being a rapper myself, I do find that kind of offensive. The others here are right: music needs to be judged based more on individual skill versus stereotypes about the entire genre of rap music itself. There are some artists in the rap world I absolutely cannot stand because of their lack of skill and only continuing to make music just to sell records (50 Cent for example.. he used to be decent but now is too commercial.. no diss to Shady though! lol).

As for me, I do it just because I like to and because I enjoy true skill and talent (regardless of whether or not people think I have talent or not lol). Anyways, that ends my rant.

the way i see it is there is some rap u can listen to and smoke a blunt to like wu-tang or 2pac and there is rap u can listen to in the club or at a party. the kinda shit with a heavy ass doesnt matter who it is as long as it bumps. thats the way i see it anyway...i like reggae the best tho thats my tru passion
