fucking rediculous. Big brother sucks. They caught me downloading the sopranos on bit-torrent and shut off my internet. Does anybody know a way to make sure they can't tell im doing this shit????

your only best bet is PROXY it, but most schools have that area cover, your pretty much screwd when it comes to downloading at school

honestly, when your at school, there's nothing you can do unless you can off the tech working there. It's all set up so they can see EVERYTHING you do. You cannot hide from them. I would advice just to not do that b/c you cannot get away with it at school.

My high school was the same way. Click on one porno link and the swat team flies down from the ceiling with guns pointed at yer...head.

Are you in a dorm, apartment, or still in high school ?

I got busted using bit-torrent as well. My ISP shut off my cable internet as a warning.. sent me a 5 page letter explaining why I got busted and how... and what I got busted downloading (movie).. had the date/time, everything. And if I ever got busted again, I would lose their service indefinately.

I can't really give any advice when using torrents, because 'big brother' is looking for people who are sharing their files. And when you use bit-torrent, you have to upload (hence sharing) to get good download speeds. My advice, don't use torrents for mainstream stuff.. and if you have to, don't do it at school. A good program I use is SoulSeek. Lets you only share your files with certain people, but has a good selection if you can find the right users.

I really don't think it matters. Security is probably even tighter at college.

not quite. seeing how its MY laptop, they can't watch everything i do.
at highschool, your own their secured networks. I can do whatever i want, just somehow they new i was dl. maybe they saw bandwith go up.

I used my laptop to download probably like 8 gigs worth of crap using my colleges wireless. They have never caught me, but they also have pathetic security on their network. They are just asking to have all the students information stolen. AUGH I got a letter from kent state a while ago stating that people stole all the students and applicants info off of the network, including mine! I had to go through alot of shit changing...
