tell your doctor you have terrible migraines....which I do and once Massachusetts legalizes medical use of cannabis, I'll be first in line to get my medicine, or I'll just move to Rhode Island, Maine or Vermont. Although you don't really have much to worry about since you live in New York. Your state has decriminalized cannabis to some degree. Here are the exact details:

Possession
25 g or less (first offense) civil citation $100
25 g or less (second offense) civil citation $200
