I wouldn't be worried as much about guns as I would be procurring knives and other blades... you see, the thing about these hypothetical apocalyptic situations is that sooner or later you're going to run out of ammunition.

    I agree

I believe that the secret to staying alive is being as mobile as possible and that doesn't work with half a ton of ammo to cart everywhere you go.The problem with the log cabin and crops scenario is simple ,sooner or later you would have to defend it against marauders and what happens if all your hard work growing the stuff comes to nothing because of some blight on your crops? I know the value of a good blade and just like you that would be high on my list of must haves, a gun is only any use if you have the ammo and like you say sooner or later it's going to run out.

I don't think I would deal with it very well to be perfectly honest.....however if I had time to prepare...lol...nah I really have no idea what I would do....I would probably try and find my family.....i would prefere to die with them than alone...even though I guess we all die alone anyway....but yeah....

I really have no idea what I would do....under pressure I can normally think wuite quickly...so I don't think I would be tooo bad....but I would deffonatly want my mate with me....and my g/f.....lol

and don't forget...you'll need at least 6 months worth of food as it takes time to bring in a crop and we won't be able to rely on game alone as their populations too will be severely depleted, if not cut down by whatever catastrophe that befalls the world, then by being over-hunted. it all depends on what the gods have in mind for this little rock we live on...

you could easily fit over 3000 rounds for a pistol in a bookbag.

for whoever thinks blades are gonna save you youll be dead sooner than you think, thats totally unrealistic because someone will always have a gun and youll be the jackass with a blade haha, id think you wouldnt live long enough to see ammuntion supplies run out, i can name 10 gun stores just in a 10-20 mile radius of where i live. Thats just gun stores, there are manufacturing plants and police armorys and numerous other places for acquiring ammo. America is the place to be if you want guns/ammunition my good friend. IF only they were on every corner like starbucks

Carrying around ammo isnt practical, which is why youd need an outpost/safehouse/cache or what have you to restock resupply. I still havent seen a plan better than mine yet.

Del, you dont think you could acquire a 6 month food supply when you are admist chaos and are fending for your life??? I can say it would interesting!

Not to mention bush would probably try and put a curfew out and police/national guard/army would be patrolling stopping people like me

Closest thing you could compare what i would be doing to is the insurgents in iraq, sorry but yeah, id be an insurgent not nessicarily with the same agenda

Overall id have to say the average person couldnt comment accurately on this topic because your mentality right now is so far off from the mentality you would need to survive in a chaotic situation that you couldnt even comprehend it even though you say you could. I for one have had this play out in my head and in my dreams so many times that if it happen i would take it with stride and be calm about it, also helps not really giving a rats ass about your life and if you die for i am a strong believer in Fate. I hear people sayin theyd be ok but i dont hear why theyd be ok, i guarentee you if you go running in to the woods or hills or whatever the majority of you will die miserabely

Dude i posted the EXACT same thing a while back.

Anyways my plan would be to FIRST steal a bunch of trucks w/ flatbeds, then get weapons then just fill up the trucks at a local walmart, walgreens warehouse etc. With a few chainsaws u can head to a forest area and build an encampment within a few days then you start growing your own food. Basically regress into a survival mode which would suck entertainment wise...but i have to say there would be one last stop on my way outta town and that would be: My dealers house hahahah!!!
