Honestly. Overstock, food nearing expiration but still good, slight imperfections and blemishes, and out of season goods. Want more reasons? The US wastes 96 billion pounds of perfectly good food each year.

How about finding 92 pounds of still good, wrapped chocolate thrown out because it was a few days after Easter.

Its pretty sad, and yet we look for ways to end hunger in third world countries. Do we really want to stop hunger or just make it look like we care.

Do your part. Go dumpster diving. I found a great pair of shoes once. Maybe you will find cool things too.
because sadly most people that actually make the decision of whether to throw it out or to give it away is always some money bent ass hole and on his mind all he's thinking is "if i'm not getting paid for this food no one is going to get it but the trash" i worked in a country-itallian resturaunt for a week once, they threw away (litearlly) enough pasta and shit in that one week i worked there that you could of literally fed about 4,000 people for a week.

You should talk to your boss about that kind of waste. I'm sure somebody would be happy to eat it.

when I worked at mcdonalds, I was in shock at how much food was wasted...

I mean in a day, there were two garbage cans out in lobby, they were changed 10 times in 8 hours... It's sickening.. And most of the garbage is food. Not to mention the burgers that arn't needed are thrown out after 5 mins.

Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal?
It\'s a natural plant that grows in the dirt.
Do you know what\'s not natural?
80 year old dudes with hard-ons. That\'s not natural.
But we got pills for that.
We\'re dedicating all our medical resources to keeping the old guys erect,
but we\'re putting people in jail for something that grows in the dirt?

It's just food. It's not like they're forcing you to accept their religion along with the food. Well maybe they are, but you need to swallow your pride and accept it. Or just go dumpster diving  It's a thrill and you never know what you'll find...
