Cal. Med Pot for Psychological Issues?

    Hi everybody, s'me. za Stooj.

I'm moving to California fairly permanently in a while, and I'm trying to get medical pot. I have bipolar disorder (on the manic side so its more like ADHD) and a pretty bad case of PTSD.

I've heard of people being able to smoke medical pot for this stuff, but I've also heard that it can be detrimental. For me, it's a positive thing. In fact, I started smoking again a couple of months ago, and ever since, my psychologist hasn't been able to shut up about how great I'm doing. I went through so much shit in my childhood that I have night terrors every night and I have to wear a night guard so I don't grind my teeth or chew through my lip. Pot helps me sleep, and I get great sleep. Tylenol PM just gives me a hangover. There are other things that it helps with as well, but you get the general gist, eh? I feel that I'm a prime candidate for med pot, and I believe it could really help a lot of people that suffer like I do.

I'm growing right now and I have no intent to sell, only to not run dry and not buy . I can get years in prison for growing, and its scary.

So does anyone know if Med Pot is more for people with serious physical illnesses? Serious psychological illnesses seem just as detrimental to me. All the books say that people with my combined disorders are more likely to kill themselves than not.

As far as I'm concerned, me, people like me, and every vietnam vet deserves a pound of medical marijuana courtesy of the government.

I have bi-polar and I dont see smoking as anything bad for it. Drinking counteracts the medications for it more and is a greater risk. The times people are more likely to commit suicide too is if they are treated for depression only but they actually have bi-polar disorder. I dont know about if they smoke or not while having it. I personally find it helps and from other posts it seems a lot of other people with bi-polar benefit from smoking. I say keep it up just as long as you keep it under control.

I definitely think it works if you're a really energetic manic-depressive and it helps to quiet the mind. I know people that are more depressed, and weed sometimes exacerbates that and it becomes counterproductive. And haha, not only is pot being researched for PTSD and whatnot but ecstacy therapy is again being researched.

Can reefers cure madness? There is some evidence that cannabis â?? or 'green Prozac' â?? has potential in the treatment of some psychiatric disorders, principally depression and bipolar disorder.

    Here's a quote from the article -

"I think cannabis has a lot of potential in the treatment of mental illness," says Lester Grinspoon, emeritus professor of psychiatry at the Harvard School of Medicine. He says that it can be an effective treatment for bipolar disorder and depression.

To Dingo, the mouth guard isn't a joke. This is serious. I'm not going to post anything regarding med pot on this board again, if the topic cannot be treated with respect.

Thanks sensemilla, I'll be checking that out.

    Hey there,
I'm not sure where Dingo is coming from, but if he/she had any experience with serious mental illness like major depression, bi-polar, etc. then I'm sure Dingo's ignorance is nothing more than a display of immature, mindless boredom.

Anyway, I also have major depression and anxiety and smoking pot helps me with sleep and it helps me from not dwelling too much on any specific thing. Smoking too much, however, does have its negative effects but that goes for anything, really.
If you're moving to SoCal I'll help you grow.

I might not be your average case but who is, right? I've been using marijuana regularly to alleviate neurological impairment from a gunshot wound to the head which ultimately left me with a behavioral disorder and a lot more but cannabis has brought me to a level of function in society.
