Because I am awesome/the threadstarter, I will tell both of you what you think and you will quit with the insults. If EVERYONE voted, every vote would matter; unfortunately, voting is not required, and therefore one vote doesn't matter. I understand that may sound like a paradox, but think about it: if one pot-smoker had the initiative to vote, but all his friends didn't because they weren't required by law, that one pot-smoker's vote didn't matter. Here's the line you all agree upon:
Until everyone must vote, one person's vote doesn't matter.
There are more effective ways to change laws than secret ballot, however, like marching and lobbying.
