Another set of newb questions...
unless you do something to protect the seedlings, most will get harvested soon after breaking the ground by critters. if you can't start them in a controled environment and keep then until they're ready to be set free (like 2-4 weeks) i suggest using open-end aluminum cans as barriers to keep them somewhat protected from leaf-cutters, potato bugs and the like. even birds have been known to swipe seedlings! take a can and cut off both ends (a sharp, sawtoothed knife works great for this) then center it around the planted area or seedling, whichever the case may be, then press into the ground enough so it will stay in place. the can can also be left for the life of the plant too w/o a prob...other than a can being out of place in the wilderness.

We own a decent chunk of woodys property with a creek running through it, Do you think I should wait till summer and water the plants myself, or plant soon and have the weather manage it? I have about 70 seeds just from random bags ive owned in the past. Since I dont really understand the whole female/male thing, When i do plant, im thinkin about just planting 5 seeds in an Rating: 5
